7 Tasty Limoncello Cocktails to Bring Back Summer
What's Good to Mix with Limoncello?
Limoncello is most often served straight from the fridge (or freezer) as an after-dinner digestive and often gets overlooked as a cocktail ingredient. Yet it works remarkably well to amplify citrusy and sweet notes that are commonly found in many shaken cocktails.
Consider reaching for your bottle of limoncello next time you’re making your favourite classic cocktail to bring a new dimension of flavour. Perhaps a touch of limoncello in a cosmopolitan? Or level up your spicy margs by replacing the orange liqueur with limoncello (you won’t regret it)!
How is Limoncello Made?
Italian limoncello traditionally starts with a high proof grape spirit known as grappa. Amalfi coast lemon peels are macerated in the spirit for months before being sweetened and bottled.
We were inspired by the Italian liqueur but wanted to differentiate our own limoncello by incorporating Australian native ingredients. Our recipe starts with a native gin that is distilled specifically for our limoncello before lemon peel and three native limes are macerated for three months. Sugar is then added to balance the acidity before being bottled at 28% abv.
The native gin base brings a new dimension and herbal note to the liqueur. Grab yourself a bottle of our Australian Lemoncello and be transported to sunlit terraces and Mediterranean shores.
