The Gimlet’s history goes back to 1867 when the British government mandated that merchant ships would stock rations of lime juice to prevent scurvy.

Gimlet Cocktail Recipe

Glass: Coupe
Garnish: Lime wheel

Ingredients:

• 2 oz (60 ml) gin
• 0.66 oz (20 ml) lime juice
• 0.5 ounce (15 ml) simple syrup

Method:

1. In a cocktail shaker, add all the ingredients
2. Shake with ice for 10-12 seconds
3. Double strain into a chilled coupe glass
