Aviation Cocktail Recipe

The Aviation was created around 1916 but was forgotten due to creme de violette disappearing from the market. A US importer started importing an Austrian brand in 2007 which led to bartenders rediscover the classic cocktail.

Aviation Cocktail Recipe

Glass: Coupe
Garnish: Maraschino cherry

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz (60 ml) dry gin
  • 0.5 oz (15 ml) maraschino liqueur
  • 0.25 oz (7.5 ml) creme de violette
  • 0.75 oz (22.5 ml) lemon juice

Method:

  1. In a cocktail shaker, add all the ingredients
  2. Shake with ice for 10-12 seconds
  3. Double strain into a chilled coupe glass
